Perhaps you've heard about the IBM zEnterprise System and zEnterprise BladeCenter Extension (zBX) infrastructure, and how the IBM zEnterprise Unified Resource Manager (zManager) provides integrated management to simplify operations across the multiple application environments. But did you know that zManager provides management capabilities for z/VM that are similar to what it provides for the zBX components? Have you wondered how you might leverage those capabilities in your environment?
Wonder no more. This talk will provide a high level overview of zManager. It will then delve into how you can use zManager to:
- Connect your z/VM virtual servers to the zEnterprise intra-ensemble data network and its associated virtual networks
- Make granular selections of existing z/VM virtual servers for zManager to manage, or create new virtual servers through zManager
- Configure zManager to perform goal-based performance management of selected z/VM virtual servers -- alone or in conjunction with virtual servers running in the zBX infrastructure -- and monitor for achievement of performance objectives
- ...and more
