Tuning zFS for good performance is currently a manual process: it's up to the administrator to specify the correct tuning knobs to get the best performance from zFS. This presentation will discuss zFS' use of system memory, its various caching systems, and how workloads and system situations can affect zFS memory usage and performance. zFS provides detailed performance information through a number of query commands, and this presentation will show how to use the information in those commands to gauge the performance of zFS, and possibly making tuning changes to zFS based on the information provided in the queries. Performance tuning guidelines for both single system and parallel sysplex will be provided.
This session assumes a basic working knowledge of zFS. Scott Marcotte ; IBM Corporation
