This is the opening session for the zNextGen Project, open to all attendees. The project officers will take about 10 minutes to introduce the zNextGen community, describe our mission and welcome back returning members. This time will also be used to point out important zNextGen meeting points and activities throughout the week, as well as recommended technical sessions.
Cost/Benefits, ROI, Optimal Configurations: we've done it all on the mainframe, over and over again, trying to get decision makers to notice our extraordinary value and role in enterprise IT.
It's time to take a step back and appreciate what we have, and reconsider how to position that value in a way that is objectively recognizable by non-mainframers.
And then it's time to step up and share those insights in a way that encourages IT decision makers to take a professional and less biased approach to evaluating current and future technology investment decisions.
Let's keep in mind the entire time: we have nothing to fear from the truth on the mainframe - it's already proven, and running, and not going anywhere but forward.
So we can have a peaceful, easy feeling about shining the light of proving value on our platform of choice: it's already standing on the ground.
This session will be a review of the mainframe's value and methods for showing it objectively, and include audience discussion of experiences and ideas for building a professional approach to this important practice.-Reg Harbeck-Mainframe Analytics Ltd.; Hemanth Rama-BMC SOFTWARE INC; Luisa Martinez-IBM
