A generation of highly experienced technicians grew up with the advancements in mainframe technology during a time "doing more with less" was an industry theme. These highly experienced technicians did more with less. The problem was "less" involved lack of a technical responsibility succession plan. Many organizations are looking for students and early career hires exposed to IBM Z technology with the capability and willingness to accept the responsibilities of the highly experience mainframe technicians that are now retiring. IBM has a program in place to address the issue. The program is over a decade old with excellent results. Come and learn about what was done in the past and what is being done now.-Paul Newton-IBM; Bill Seubert-IBM Corporation
