Even in highly-replicated environments, data-center wide DASD backup and recovery are of paramount importance in insuring the availability of valid user data. Migration/archiving of unused disk files is also important to maintain sufficient free DASD space. This session will provide an overview of two of the most widely used DASD management systems, IBM's DFSMShsm and Innovation Data Processing's FDRABR. We will examine and contrast the most important features of each system, including how the system keeps track of backed-up data, how restores are performed, and how important defaults should be set.-Steve Pryor-DTS Software, Inc.
