ICSF is the component of z/OS that provides the cryptographic infrastructure on System z. It provides access to the crypto hardware as well as implementing cryptographic functions in software. It also provides for key security and integrity; routing of cryptographic work to the appropriate devices providing the best security and performance; and it implements routines intended to provide FIPS compliance for SSL and PKCS #11.
HCR7780 is the current version of ICSF and provides exploitation for the latest cryptographic hardware enhancements on the z196. This session will highlight those hardware enhancements (like hardware support for Elliptic Curve) as well as other new functions and capabilities that you can leverage to protect both your ‘in-flight’ and ‘at rest’ data.
