EMC released Fully Automated Storage Tiering with Virtual Pools in May 2012 for the mainframe. This session describes the considerations for implementing FAST VP with DB2 for z/OS subsystems. The session describes reason and value of automated tiering, the requirements for tiering on VMAX, the implementation and migration steps, how to set policies, time windows, and data movement windows.
