WebSphere Application Server Version 8.5 includes a new runtime called WebSphere Liberty Profile (just 'Liberty' to friends). Maybe you've heard how light-weight it is. Or how fast it starts. Or that z/OS MF will soon be based on it. If you have Version 8.5 somewhere you can try Liberty out (or check out free trial license). No need to update or even touch any existing WAS servers you might have. Liberty is totally independent.
In this session we'll go through the simple steps to create, configure, and start your first Liberty server. Since that will leave us most of the session time to spare, we'll follow up by showing how you can update the configuration to take advantage of the z/OS integration features included with Liberty. Go home with step by step instructions to fire up the latest WebSphere server runtime!
