For the past decade plus, IBM has suggested that Metal C replace the use of assembler in user exit situations where the exit is not planned to be replace by a PARMLIB member. However, in spite of dwindling assembler knowledge, there seems to be no interest in exploiting the C language knowledge of younger staff. The presenter will discuss the basics of Metal C in a user exit situation, and will demonstrate a conversion of an assembler exit in SAMPLIB to Metal C.-M. Ray Mullins-Trident Services, Inc.
