How Vantiv Solves Its DB2 for z/OS Performance Monitoring and Tuning Challenges

In this session, the speaker will focus on the Vantiv user experience with regards to DB2 for z/OS, problem determination and performance tuning. During the peak season, there was a critical problem where the DB2 subsystems executed 20 times more dynamic queries than normal, flooding the system and maxing out storage. Through creative use of tooling, Vantiv was able to determine the source of the problem and restore the system to normal operation while under a peak freeze. Vantiv will also discuss how they use reporting to monitor DB2, performance, and CF structures while improving the throughput during peak hours and reducing the rolling four hour average.  Attendees will be able to learn how to deal with the unexpected and the routine to help keep DB2 subsystem performance healthy and optimized.-Lethika Panicker-Vantiv Inc
