We compare Linux performance on z196 to z10 using CPU and memory intense workloads, using single process, multi process, multi processor, and scalability test cases. In addition we review how do the new numbers compare to those of the migration from z9 to z10 two years ago. Finally we show in a case study how the performance of the z196 could be exploited when using its new instructions.
