High demand of large and complex data format has become an essential requirement in today’s business model. DB2 LOB data type enabled the user to process data with various format and maximizing the capability of storing large data. Managing the large volume of the data has been a challenging task for organizations. Compression has long been used to increase the effectiveness of memory buffering, reduce the storage space needed and improve the performance of transmitting data. DB2 V12 for z/OS combines with IBM z/EDC Express Adapter to compresses data faster with less CPU and reduce the storage space needed to host massive amounts of data on Z system. This presentation will provide a comprehensive overview of managing Large Data (LOB) and the best practice with compression.-Frances Villafuerte-IBM; Jeremy Jones-IBM; Daniel Kim-IBM
