Buried deep in mountains of application code is critical information that powers your business. Designed to make writing code more repeatable, reliable and manageable, legacy languages like COBOL have been used to develop many enterprise systems. However, retirement of the original developers and sheer scale make these systems hard to comprehend without automated analysis. Many organizations have discovered the solution is to add a “Source Code Analysis” step to the DevOps process. This leads quickly to compressed development cycles and improved code quality, with a payback that is measured in months rather than years. In addition, code modernization or replatforming efforts can be accomplished much more effectively and efficiently. Many desire the ‘treasure’ but have given up because it’s simply too difficult to dig out these rules manually. But what if you didn’t have to? This presentation will highlight how to add static analysis as an automatic step in your DevOps process.-Denise P. Kalm-Kalm Kreative; John Rhodes-CM First Group; Roger L. Hammer-CM First Group
