Simplification and central management control of your network devices is the direction of the IT industry. There are many network managers, running a variety of protocols that are being used to mange a customer's networking infrastructure  This is true for IBM's zSeries mainframes as well. In this session we will talk about the IBM strategy of moving platform configuration, including I/O networking configuration, to a central location, namely the SE/HMC. Eliminating multiple disparate management tools and moving to one central location makes a lot of sense for minimizing and streamlining methods and procedures for configuring your I/O. The new OSA Support Facility on the SE (OSA/SF) is an example of a successful move to the SE/HMC. The features and capabilities of this function, along with 'best practices' for defining the OSA/SF admin role on the HMC, will be described in this presentation.-Steve Valley-IBM
