Database Administrators (DBAs) are responsible for ensuring the availability of Db2 systems regardless of performance issues, data corruption, errant application changes or device failures. They need to quickly assess the situation thus reducing the risk of a prolonged outage. Knowing what happens during start up and shut down of Db2, as well as log and thread status, will help streamline recovery efforts.
The speaker will discuss the 4-phases Db2 goes through when coming up, review the importance of the IN-DOUBT thread and other tips to speed subsystem recovery if Db2 is stuck or slow during the start or shutdown.-Rodolfo Custodio-Broadcom
