This session is a technical introduction to the newest member of the IBM z Systems family, the IBM z13. In Part 2, you will be introduced to the enhancements that make z13 a true I/O super computer with more that doubled I/O bandwidth; 85 logical partitions; four subchannel sets per Logical Channel Subsystem (LCSS); 16 Gbps FICON Express16S channels; enhanced FICON function, including enhancements to System z High Performance FICON (zHPF), new Forward Error Correction, Dynamic Routing of inter-switch traffic, and support for end to end Storage Area Network (SAN) Fabric Priority. Gain insight into networking enhancements including full virtualization for 10GbE RoCE Express and Multi-VSwitch Link Aggregation (LAG) Support for z/VM. Get an introduction to z13 physical planning, cabling and hardware management console (HMC) considerations. Build a foundation for planning z13 implementation and get prepared to attend more in depth sessions on these topics. This session is the second part of a two part sequence. Please consider attending the first session, 16704 The New IBM z13 Part 1: Processor Design, Server Structure, z/Architecture Enhancements, and Operating System Support. These sessions assume a reasonable familiarity with previous z Systems servers and operating systems.-Harv Emery-IBM Corporation
