Slash, slash, backslash, escape… oops, wrong punch line. Why does JCL look like a URL minus the http:? Is it a scripting language or not? What’s with the condition logic, anyway? And just how badly do I have to twist my brain for it to make sense, or should I just copy someone else’s and make as few changes as possible, hoping it still works?
If you’ve never encountered JCL before, these are likely some of the questions you may have. In this slightly whimsical session, we’ll enjoy taking a jaundiced look at how JCL works and what you should probably know before copying, changing and repurposing it or, heaven forbid, writing it from scratch.-Reg Harbeck-Mainframe Analytics Ltd.
