This session is part 1 of 2 on WLM introduction.Â
On IBM z machines running z/OS, several workloads with competing priorities and resource requirements could run simultaneously. z/OS Workload Manager allows to set importance and goal (velocity, response time) in business terms. WLM then manages the resource allocation to workloads to achieve these goals.
In this part 1 session, we will cover user side i.e. WLM policy constructs basics and a live demo on step by step policy set up.Â
In part 2 session, we look indepth inside WLM on how its manages SLA. We wil discuss various WLM functions, metrics it uses to evaluate work etc. Â Finally we will go through SMF WLM reports - we will discuss what reports to be used, where to look for interesting data and how to interpret data from SLA perspective.-Hemanth Rama-BMC SOFTWARE INC
