In this lab you'll see first-hand how you can use the IMS Explorer for Development (E4D) tooling to easily develop Java apps that access and manipulate enterprise data in an IMS database. With IMS E4D and the IMS Universal type-4 JDBC driver, you can:
- Develop a Java application that accesses native IMS data using a type4 connection
- Perform queries
- Deploy an application to the WebSphere Application Server and access IMS data from browser.
If you store business data in IMS databases and want an easy way to access that data, this hands-on lab can help. You'll learn that you can develop applications for IMS using modern and standardized programming solutions. Java and IMS is a partnership of the past, present and future. The IMS Universal drivers, which are built on industry standards and open specifications, provide Java applications with connectivity to IMS databases from z/OS® and from distributed environments through TCP/IP. In an era where mobile and cloud are driving apps to market faster and faster, IMS delivers you the tools you need to deliver!-Poonam Chitale-IBM Corporation
